Meet Nicole Spence

Dance Instructor

Nicole Spence [Hutton] started her dance and theater education in England at the age of 3, following in the footsteps of her mother who has an MA in Dance and Movement Development. Nicole’s interest and love for dance continued in elementary school while attending Spring Ridge Dance Center. She then moved to MMPAC studying and performing tap, ballet, Jazz, lyrical, and modern dance. She also began her teaching experience as a student teacher. While at MMPAC she was first introduced to the inspiring teaching styles of Gina Korrell and Yara Perry. Later when Gina opened 24/7 dance studio she moved with her to continue her dancing. While attending 24/7 in 2002 she attended Urbana high school where she danced continuously during the day in her daily dance class at Urbana High School where she was a member of the Urbana Performing Dance Company until she graduated in 2005. Nicole’s summers were also full of dance when she had the opportunity to dance and perform while she attended the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Session for two summers beginning in 2001. The next summer she danced at the Summer Session at the Philadelphia School of the Arts where she began her interest in hip hop and Pilates.

Nicole began teaching and dancing with Bonnie Slawson at Motion Mania in Rockville In 2006. Nicole began her studies in Stott Pilates and has continued to use Pilates movements in all the classes she teaches. She also taught Summer camps under Zelda Simms. In 2009, Nicole was invited to Wootton High School as a guest artist to teach and set a choreography Piece for the students, this collaboration continued for 3 seasons. Montgomery County Dance Specialist, Michelle Deleo praises Nicole as having a “gift for teaching dance and inspiring students to reach for their dreams”.
